Ramadan is the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar during which our fellow Muslims fast for 30 days and pray as a way to become closer to God. But one of the highlights in this holy month is definitely the line of mouth-watering Ramadan Buffets which allow families to come together and break fast amongst loved ones in the spirit of Ramadan. We at KL Foodie only want what’s best for our readers, so we headed to MAKAN at Tune Hotel to get a taste of what their Ramadan buffet has to offer. We’ll be sharing our experience right here, so keep reading!

From 8 – 29 May 2019, MAKAN will be serving an array of dishes from land to sea. They might not have a wide selection of dishes at first glance, but we could tell that the culinary team from MAKAN emphasises quality over quantity and we’re glad that they went with the former.
The Buffet Spread: Ronda Ronda Buka Puasa @ MAKAN
The buffet showcases a variety of Malaysian favourites using only the freshest ingredients such as Rendang, Lemang and Satay that taste just like mom’s cooking though this time, it’s all you can eat so you can always go for second (or more!) rounds!
The Buffet Spread: Ronda Ronda Buka Puasa @ MAKAN
Taking centre stage all month long will be their one and only Laksa Johor. A fusion of West and East, Laksa Johor is served with spaghetti and broth that is made from ground fish paste and spices. Not your typical Asam Laksa, you will surely need to try this at MAKAN’s Ramadhan Buffet and what better way to breakfast than with a hearty bowl of fragrant noodles?
Sharing the limelight with Laksa Johor, we can’t forget about the other stars of the show that are featured daily such as Nasi Minyak, Lamb Briyani, Ayam Masak Merah, Udang Sambal Petal, Salted Egg Prawns, Ikan Asam Pedas, Steamed Seabass with Kerabu, Mee Rebus, Prawn Mee and the list goes on!
Their Ramadan buffet offers primarily local delights but a little Western craving has never hurt anybody. Serving an array of our Western favourites such as classic Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Lemon Butter Fish Fillet, succulent lamb shoulder, roasted potatoes, and buttered vegetables – we’re pretty sure our foodies won’t resist going back for seconds because we certainly did.
For Meat Lovers : Carving Station
Indulge in scrumptious Malaysian cuisines at MAKAN’s own carving station where you can get tender meat fresh every day. Choices comprise Roast Beef, Roast Chicken and our personal favourite: Roast Lamb. A Ramadan buffet is not complete without Satay and alongside the carving station, remember to get yourself a generous helping of Satay!
For the Sweet Tooth : Ronda Ronda Buka Puasa @ MAKAN
Last but not least, we can’t forget about our sweet tooth foodies and as what they say, there’s always room for dessert. The perfect ending to a delicious buffet spread, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on their selection of desserts: mini tarts, jelly and chocolate cakes among others. Traditional favourites are offered as well to relieve your childhood memories such as Sago Gula Melaka, Pineapple Strudel and Crème Caramel.
If you’re not a fan of pastries, remember to opt for their ais kacang at its individual station where you can add any toppings of your choice. This will definitely satisfy your sugar cravings and is the perfect remedy to our blazing hot weather in Malaysia.
The Space : Ronda Ronda Buka Puasa @ MAKAN
Expect a bright and spacious area with wooden furnishings when you dine at MAKAN, which is great for family gatherings during the month of Ramadhan where everyone shares their love for food and spends quality time together. There is also a cozy outdoor seating with sofas and shades which make it the perfect catch up spot with your friends and family too.
