Shopping
If you're kids are old enough to enjoy shopping, the malls in Malaysia are incredible! Kuala Lumpur (KL) is known for it's massive shopping malls where you can buy clothes, shoes, technology, souvenirs and games the kids will love. Stock up on what you like, as the prices are very cheap.
Cosmo's World
Located in Berjaya Times Square, Cosmo's World is the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia. Enjoy bumper cars, roller coasters, carousels and heaps of other fun rides. If it's a hot day, you should take the kids to one of the many water parks in KL. One of the most popular ones is Sunway Lagoon.
Animal encounters
Malaysia has so many wonderful places where you can get up close with the incredible animals that call Malaysia home. The KL Bird Park is the biggest, walk-in and free flight aviary in the world. Nearby there is also a butterfly park, hibiscus garden and a deer park.
Another great day out with the family can be had at the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. There are approximately 8 elephants that are kept here at any one time and there are several tour operators that take visitors here from the capital city.
Petrosains Discovery Center
Inside the massive KLCC complex you'll find the Petrosains Discovery Center, which was opened by the Petronas oil company. There are plenty of hands on science exhibitions that children and adults will find fascinating, from dinosaurs to microbes and the human body.
KL Tower
The tower offers incredible 360 degree views of the city and on the tower grounds there is also a zoo. Treat the family to a meal at the revolving restaurant at the top of the tower when you're done exploring.
Batu Cave
Batu Cave is a wonderful free attraction. It's a hindu temple that was built into the side of a limestone cliff face. A train from the city will take you right to it. With monkeys running around, beautiful caves everywhere and a giant statue of Lord Murugan, it's a great place the kids will love.
