What is Tune Hotels Travel Shield?
Tune Hotels Travel Shield is a form of personal accident coverage specifically for the guests of Tune Hotels. For as little as RM6, guests will receive coverage for many unexpected occurrences during their trip which may cause additional expense. (See below for details) The travel protection plan is put in place by Tune Hotels in collaboration with Tune Money. The product, which is offered exclusively to Tune Hotels’ guests, is underwritten by CIMB AVIVA Takaful Berhad.

What do I get for my RM6?
You get the following:
PERSONAL ACCIDENT
If you have an accident during the course of your stay at our hotel and die or become permanently disabled, we will reimburse you up to RM50,000.
ROOM CANCELLATION
If you have to cancel your stay with us due to unforeseen circumstances, we will reimburse you for any deposits paid in advances (if you do not have this coverage, these deposits are not recoverable). However, this is only if the cancellation is for reasons beyond your control. Otherwise, your deposits will remain irrecoverable.
DELAYED CHECK IN
If your check-in has been delayed by Tune Hotels, we will reimburse you for up to RM50 per hour, for every hour you have to wait.
MEDICAL AND OTHER EXPENSES
If you have a bodily injury or illness sustained during the period of your stay, we will reimburse you for your medical expenses for up to RM500. We will also reimburse you up to RM1,000 for emergency medical evacuations and provide a 24-hour travel assistance hotline in case you need help with immigration, visa information and medical evacuations.
CURTAILMENT EXPENSES
If your travel plans are unexpectedly cut short because of the following:
- your serious injury or illness and upon medical advice;
- unexpected death, serious injury or illness of your spouse, children, parents, grandparents, parents-in-law, brothers, sisters, or of the person with whom you are travelling.
- hijacking of the aircraft in which you are on board passenger
- natural disasters which prevent you from continuing with your scheduled trip.
we will pay you up to RM2,000 to compensate you for additional travel and accommodation expenses already incurred.

HOME CARE
If your home contents are damaged or destroyed in a fire during your stay at Tune Hotels, we will either pay for the replacement or repair of the items concerned for up to RM5,000. The fire should have only occurred after your trip has commenced.

HOSPITAL ALLOWANCE
If you are admitted to a hospital during your stay at Tune Hotels at the recommendationof a licensed doctor, we will pay you a benefit of up to RM50 a ringgit a day for each complete day you spend at the hospital as an inpatient for up to a specified number of days.

LOSS OF TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
If you are robbed during your stay at Tune Hotels, we will reimburse for the loss of your travel documents as well as your accommodation expenses as long as you report the loss within twenty-four hours of the incident obtain a written statement from the police to substantiate your claim. We will also reimburse you or any additional travel or accommodation expenses for obtaining replacement passports, travel tickets and other relevant travel documents.

How do I purchase a Tune Hotels Travel Shield?
You can do so when you are making your room booking at www.tunehotels.com (there is a drop-down selection for the Travel Shield under the “add-on purchases”) or at the reception counter during check in.

Who can subscribe Tune Hotels Travel Shield?
Any Tune Hotels’ guest in Malaysia (even non-Malaysians) is eligible for the travel shield.

Does Tune Hotels Travel Shield have an age limit?
Yes, you must be below 75 years of age at the time of check-in to qualify.

How do I subscribe the Tune Hotels Travel Shield for my accompanying guest?
You fill in a separate form at the reception counter and pay the contribution. You will be provided a receipt as proof of coverage. Please note that you are allowed to cover only 1 accompanying adult and 1 child below 12 for every double room purchased. Should you purchase a single room, you can only cover 1 accompanying child below the age of 12 under the Tune Hotels Travel Shield.

When does my Tune Hotels Travel Shield coverage begin and end?
Your coverage begins upon check-in to the hotel and ends at 10 in the morning or your actual check-out time (whichever is earlier) on your scheduled check-out date.

How long does the Tune Hotels Travel Shield cover me?
Your coverage is valid for as long as your stay at Tune Hotels. However, since there is a maximum coverage period of 10 days, if you are staying for more than 10 days, you are required to subscribe for it, again.

What if I have an accident during my stay at Tune Hotels?
Call Tune Hotels Travel Shield’s 24 hours Travel Assistance Hotline at 603- 22963088. Have your hotel booking number on hand for verification. Please keep all your original receipts to submit with your claims.

Can I cancel my Tune Hotels Travel Shield?

Is Tune Hotels Travel Shield premium refundable?
No

Can I amend my Tune Hotels Travel Shield coverage period?
No. You will need to subscribe for it again when making a new booking or extending your stay.
Please note that:-
- Should you decide to check out early, the policy will automatically cease upon check out.
- Should you decide to extend your stay, and the total number of stay is more than 10 days you will need to subscribe Tune Hotels Travel Shield again.

How can I confirm that my Tune Hotels Travel Shield is valid and has taken effect?
The Tune Hotels Travel Shield will appear on your booking confirmation sheet and is only valid once you have paid the contribution. If you subscribe at the reception counter, you will be provided with a receipt as proof of coverage.

How do I make a claim?
You need to submit a claim to the underwriter company – CIMB Aviva Takaful Berhad. A copy of the Notice of Claim can be downloaded here. Kindly complete the form and fax it to 603-26143500 or mail it to the following address within thirty (30) days of incident.

How long before I get my money?
If you have submitted the completed form with all the required documents (such as receipts, police report, etc), the claims process will take 7 days.

What if I disagree with the compensation amount?
You can ask for arbitration. This requires you and CIMB Aviva Takaful Berhad to each select a competent and impartial appraiser. The appraisers then select an umpire. Each appraiser will evaluate the loss and determine the value of each item. The umpire settles any disagreement between the two appraisers. You and CIMB Aviva Takaful Berhad share the cost of this process.
